The short version: Your coins, unlocks, stats, settings and anything the computer learns about how you play stay on your device. We have no servers, no accounts and no analytics of our own.
Three things do leave your device: match data sent straight to your opponent's device when you play nearby, your wins sent to Apple's Game Center if you're signed in, and the data Google's ad service collects to show ads. All three are covered in full below.
| Data | Where it lives | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Coins, unlocked weapons and ship skins | Your device's local app storage | No |
| Your win/loss stats | Your device's local app storage | No |
| Settings (gravity, thrust, practice AI level) | Your device's local app storage | No |
| Your practice record against each AI level (wins, losses, draws) | Your device's local app storage | No |
| What RULES 6 has learned about how you play (a few numbers: your aiming habits, whether you use your shield, a preferred fighting distance) | Your device's local app storage | No |
| Replays of your last 30 matches (ship positions, shots and results) | Your device's local app storage | No |
| Live match data during a Play Nearby match | Sent directly to your opponent's device | Only to that device. Never to us. |
| Your total online wins | Apple's Game Center | Yes, to Apple, under Apple's own privacy policy |
Deleting the app deletes everything in the first six rows. There is no copy anywhere else. You can also delete any replay from the REPLAYS screen, and erase what RULES 6 has learned from SETTINGS.
PLAY NEARBY connects two devices in the same room directly, over local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, using Apple's own peer-to-peer networking. That's why iOS asks for permission to use your local network and Bluetooth the first time you play nearby. During a match, ship positions, controls and hits are sent straight to the other device and nowhere else. Nothing goes through a server, and nothing is kept after the match ends.
Your device's name is shown to the other player so they can pick you from the list.
If you're signed in to Game Center, your total number of online wins goes to Apple's leaderboard, together with your Game Center player identity, so other players can see it. We never receive this data. Apple handles it under Apple's own privacy policy. Game Center is optional. The game works fully without it.
Rocket Duel is free and shows ads through Google's AdMob service:
Don't want ads at all? A one-time Remove Ads purchase turns every one of them off for good. After that, Google's ad SDK isn't started and none of the data below is collected. The purchase itself is handled entirely by Apple. We only learn from the App Store that this device's Apple Account owns it.
Showing ads means Google's SDK collects some data. This is the exact list, taken from the privacy declarations that Google's SDKs ship with, not from a general description:
| Data | Linked to your identity? | Used to track you across apps? |
|---|---|---|
| Advertising identifier (IDFA) | Yes | Yes |
| Ads you've seen (advertising data) | Yes | Yes |
| How you interact with the app (product interaction) | Yes | No |
| Approximate location, from your IP address | Yes | Yes |
| Crash, performance and other diagnostic data | No | No |
The advertising identifier, the ads you've seen and your approximate location are all treated as used to track you across other companies' apps, because Google's ad service can combine ad-measurement data across the apps that use it, even where we don't ask it to. That's why iOS asks your permission (App Tracking Transparency) before it can be used. Ads still show if you say no. Rocket Duel always requests non-personalized ads, whatever you answer.
If you're in the EU, UK or Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice the first time it's needed, before any of this happens. You can change that choice at any time from AD PRIVACY in the top-left corner of the main menu.
Rocket Duel is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Ads are limited to a general-audience content rating.
If a future version of the app changes what data it handles, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
